I'm not fully sure Xolph is his name — and he does want to go by "he/him", apparently, so who am I to argue? Sometimes characters will take on a life of their own and drop cryptic hints, and every time I tried to remember his name, the letter D came to mind. Dolph? No, definitely not.
But something in the hint of "flames reflecting on water" made me think about a connection: Δ is "D" in Greek, and △ is the alchemical symbol for fire. And I used to have an old logo made of two triangles…
