Who perpetuated the absolutely bullshite myth that dark modes are "unprofessional"? I'm dying here having to navigate a bunch of enterprise tools in my otherwise dark room when everything is ffffff white and every single one has an ask for a dark mode with a reply of "It's not high on our list, dark modes are not typically present in professional grade tools".

I used to work in a 24/7 NOC and I wrote a dashboard for a big chonker of a TV that basically hung directly over the NOC area. Like a 68" thing directly above one of the corner desks. I realized at night when all the lights were out except one directly over the NOC, it was a portable sun, so I made it dark mode.

The NOC manager angrily stormed over the next day going "Black and bold is unprofessional, make it Arial, normal weight, black on white, and undo whatever you did to space the datapoints out. It should look like a professional report!"

It became unusable instantly, and an eye irritant for the night crew. They started turning it off.
