I have decided that my first contest entry attempt is not good enough. The concept is too similar to a previous contest winner. And I don't feel it's the most cohesive or interesting composition, despite liking the pose and rendering of the main subject.
So I'm going to go ahead and post it here.

I do love the pose and facial expression on the scrapped one. The slight hint of worry in their expression makes you wonder what they're looking at

@Felthry Thanks for confirming my feelings on it.
I am a little disappointed to admit that this one won't be winning any contests, as I had such high hopes after getting the pose down and rendering the Pokemon, but I am still motivated to keep trying. I need to think a little harder on compositional ideas and come up with something really good.
