CW: Bit of a depressing thought.

It is the start of 2024.

I've been wanting to play and stream all the Pokemon games from the start to make up for not having done them as a kid. Also I've been wanting to play 360 games that I never got to play as well.

3DS and WiiU online servers are going down in March. Old Pokemon cartridges are going for hundreds. I only am missing three original GB carts, but they're still REALLY expensive.

360 servers for Halo and a number of other games have been offline for 2 years and later this year, all online services for Xbox 360 are going down.

I did not have many games growing up. I've missed out on the height of these series, consoles, and services that a lot of people around my age has enjoyed all their childhood. I'm lucky that Pokemon Bank/Transporter will continue, but even they have alluded to the notion that the service is finite beyond the online services shutting down.

...I want to go back in time...

@Venerabela for pokemon games especially, and probably most other games too, there will be and probably already are fan-run servers for all the online stuff; there already are for all the DS ones

i'm hoping that this collectible video games bubble pops soon and the original carts get cheaper

have you considered getting all the originals on virtual console? yeah, nintendo's shut down the eshop, but you can still get them from other sources
