@VoxSomniator No, manganese dioxide is comparatively safe. The fire is (in alkaline primary cells at least) often just due to overheating from a short-circuit, iirc

now if you open up a lithium-polymer battery, then you can expect fire. though you can avoid the fire with some extreme care or a nitrogen atmosphere
