Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are out in the wild, street date broken ahead of launch, and spoilers are floating around.

I want to share two specific pieces of info, one specific to Character Gender Selection, and one specific to Shint Hunting Accessibility for Disabled players.

The fun thing about the mastodon migration while having ADHD is that I keep seeing people on my Twitter timeline announce their mastodon @ and I dutifully follow them while having exactly zero idea who they are or why I ever followed them in the first place.

but wait. There's More™.

there are *more* TeX-related mascots I didn't know about. for example, the METAFONT lioness, who is a whole-ass mood

I am not putting out the peppermint I got for this outdoor swap. It's all getting potted for the December "indoor only" plant swap so someone doesn't unleash a mint monster in their yard.

That's a potted friend. Do not let it breach containment.

I have the last outdoor plant swap 'til spring this Saturday. Then is too cold for anymore transplants.

Yes, this pun is horrible. I get to see someone figure it out at the swap every time I host. The little squint and then the realization.... DAMNIT

Hullo. So this is Mastodon, eh? Well, I'm here. And to celebrate, here's a photo I took yesterday in Kingston NY of Good Omens director Douglas directing An Unnamed Actor (on the other side of the glass) in Episode 2 of Good Omens Season 2 (Coming Next Summer).

As a result of recents registrations, due to a mass migration, we are beginning to reach the performance limits of the instance. We need to measure performance with the current user base.

Registration is closed on meow.social, but not definitely. If you want to join, ask someone already registered on meow.social to generate an invitation link for you !

Thank you for your understanding.

okay I'm literally a mastodon admin and I did not know this so I'm sharing it: find the notifications chirps annoying? I sure do. Here's how to turn them off:

1. at the top of your notifications column, there is an icon with three horizontal lines/sliders. Click on it.
2. It will expand into a menu where you can turn off "play sound" for each type of notification.
3. Scroll down for more notification types, turning off as you go.
4. Enjoy blissful silence without having to mute the whole tab.

I gotta finish assembling a christmas tree for a chairty things and one light it out on this string. somewhere.

uuuuuuuurgh.

*checking lights while muttering It's For A Good Cause* but I'm still gonna complain

Hey, Mastodon newbies! Getting in the habit of adding alt-tags to your images can be challenging. >.> I know it was for me. To that end, please follow @botsin.space/@PleaseCaption! It will automatically follow you back and poke you with a reminder if you post an un-alted image. After a few times, you'll remember! #Mastodon #TwitterMigration

I've two articles in the Nov/Dec 2022 issue of Texas Observer magazine. First, a culture feature about the state of bookstores in #Texas, co-written with Gayle Reaves. And then I teamed up with #trans photographer Jesse Freidin to share his art project, "Are You OK?" in a photo-essay documenting the lives of brave young transgender Texans.

The magazine is out now on newsstands, with all articles available online soon.

#FediTips: It’s ok to be confused and overwhelmed while you’re getting used to things. Don’t be afraid to step away from the screen. Go outside in the dead of night with only the tired and icy light of distant stars for company. Walk into the heart of an ancient swamp, where the gnarled trees whisper their forgotten secrets. Listen to the ethereal chorus of a million tiny creatures, and the blissful complexity of their countless songs. Find calm as you feel the planet spinning beneath you.

A fantasy world except the Dragons are replaced by giant squeaky and friendly moths

alternatively: moth-dragon hybrids, as beautiful and fierce and graceful as a dragon, instantly chases after any lamp like they're a huge cat chasing a laser pointer

the twitter fallout has local Pride org going "maybe we need a social media thing to replace that to connect more with The Youth" which
A) hilarious that Twitter was even close to being it used for that
B) its sure not Mastodon either

I handle the twitter, discord & Telegram right now and E. thankfully handles Instgram which I LOATHE. We tag team FB.

In theory we have a tiktok & snapchat but I hate those more. someone half my age can do those. I just Can't with video.
