Insisting that intersex people are all disabled, just as well as insisting that none of us are (!), both have the same assumption that so many doctors also make!

That everything in our lives is directly tied to being intersex.

This is not true; please avoid doing that.

Some things are unrelated & we can have a whole range of disability statuses that are totally unrelated to being intersex. But also related ones too. Or both simultaneously. It's complex!

My contribution for OurSideZine "Queer Enough", an edition focused on bringing visibility to marginalized identities within the vast Queer Community.

I've always known that I don't fit the classic binary gender roles but never actually felt as a part of the non-bi community because I am "too straight".

It's so important to feel included, to be a part of something bigger. Don't feel invalidated or alone simply because you don't fit one standard definition of terms.
