A woman posted in a Facebook group that I am in that she is attaching her youngest child to the grocery cart with a carabiner, so nobody tries to kidnap her.
I pointed out that 90%+ of abductions are custody disputes and no one has ever stolen a child from a store in the US. It’s not how human trafficking works, and we should really be more concerned about things that are harming kids daily.
Within 5 minutes I was booted from the group.
The problem with furries is that once you let one furry work for you, they will tell their friends and suddenly your entire IT department uses furry stickers in the work chat
I’ve got a new free foraging comic up on my ko-fi, all about fruit you can find and eat for free pretty easily in the eastern US! Check it out here if you’d like: https://ko-fi.com/s/bd38ecf5e4
On the other hand, talking points about honeybees being somehow more "morally good" than other insects are also ecofascism. I saw this a lot with the "murder hornets" panic--people were clutching pearls about how the hornets were from CHINA and they EAT BEES.
Similarly, when I say that I like wasps, I've had people say "no, fuck wasps, they kill bees"
Animals eat other animals in healthy ecosystems. Honeybees are not exempt from being eaten. Get over it.

1/2 This was a big surprise, small worry + kind of a thrill! The other night, just after midnight as I was getting ready to sleep, I heard what sounded like scratching/chewing on the outside of the house. Expecting maybe a flying squirrel, I went out with a flashlight (outside side light was on). Imagine my surprise at seeing a #porcupine / Erethizon dorsatum apparently gnawing at the corner of the house! #wildlife #CountryLiving #animals #Alberta #Canada #BorealForest #PhotoMonday @nature
