the way i conceive of website boy and his relationship to mastodon is like,
we're all partying in this underground complex with all these rooms and things. there's a lot of discourse about it, provided you have a sense of what's going on in various rooms.
but website boy is like, miles away, operating a picture frame store on the property, and i guess the city sees the electric bill coming from the picture frame store, so journalists assume this is what mastodon is
i'm not even sure if i'm right on this, i just operate under this logic, like
"oh right, our sign is next to some dude in a shop, isn't it? i hear he's the absolute worst though so i'm sure as hell never visiting it. haha that's cute, someone called him a ceo"
so many people are gonna hear "oh mastodon is like twitter but without the fascists" and they're gonna drive to the picture frame store and see all these fascists standing around confused
i guess i'm saying i've always assumed eugen was a front that actually believed he had something to do with the moonshine operation
@heatherhorns People seem to think that social media platforms have qualities that are independent of the users that populate the platform, and I think it's a silly view.
