The calculus for posting stuff online hasn’t changed much since the 90s. If you don’t want to be on the record doing things that are illegal, for the love of all things good, do not post it to Masto.

@deltaphor Not too jaded, no. Since once it hits server logs, archive.org, or someone else’s scraper, it can be retained indefinitely.
I wonder if it’s worth sharing some of the older stuff about how trust makes online interactions work, both positively and negatively? A lot of newer folks have come online since those were circulated.

I'd even say that without the words "that are illegal". Am I too jaded?
Mastodon is good at some things. I would not consider keeping anything you explicitly toot secure/private from anybody, fed or not, among them.
