it feels like the new mtg sets are real, real heavy on yugioh-level card text, which makes it less great that arena doesn't give you long to read them

like it’s cool to have one or two cards that have elaborate complex effects but it feels unfair when I’m running out of time on my turn because I have to parse like ten of those the other guy’s playing

i guess “put so much shit on your cards the opponent literally can’t work it out in one turn” is a valid strategy when it’s all timed

wonder if I could weaponize it by quantifying text per turn per mana spent, weighing it in favor of card text I don’t have to think about but my opponent does, and just make such an overwhelming mass of bullshit that they concede the match rather than bother with my deck

@kat It doesn't come up so often anymore in online because spell triggers and resolution are automatic, but for a fun time if you've not yet seen it, it is possible to metagame really terrible abilities for over the table play: blogs.magicjudges.org/telliott

@kat To say that Braids alone broke tournaments is an understatement.

@Goldkin god these are all miserable

wonder if I can get all five into a deck together
