I wish Elon Musk’s antics and the Effective Altruism crypto crash cured my imposter syndrome the way it’s doing for everyone else. Instead, as someone who worked technical support and witnessed first hand tech’s weird self-valorization, it kinda just makes me depressed.
So much good that could be done, if it wasn’t siphoned up by the stupidest, most self-involved people with terrible morals and bad taste. Yes, this also applies to Richard Stallman and Linus Torvalds. None of these leaders are good people.
@PurpleRose Which still isn't ideal and hopefully this prompts more attempts to keep sociopaths away from money and power, btw.
But trying to offer a kernel of hope here and proof from my own experience working around these kind of people at the small and large scale that the work done at Twitter (etc) will be replicated elsewhere while Elon continues to tweet his way through Dunning-Kruger.
