Non-critical Vent (Fanfiction, Pokemon, Isekai)

All right, I've got a bone to pick.

I love the Pokemon fanfiction community, but its dependency for Mystery Dungeon, particularly Explorers, really makes me lament the limitless potential of transhumanist topics folks could be exploring in their writing. I feel an outsider to a lot of the Pokemon fanfic communities because of that kind of feedback loop. I definitely don't mind it; my nonsensical ideas of using Pokemon TF as a way to explore gender identity, or rediscovering a sense of child-like wonder, is often lost in the (sometimes shallow) trappings of Mystery Dungeon.

I get it, the series is nostalgic and is the basis for a lot of my own writing ideas as well. But I hope that over time folks will use the motifs from the series to take leaps into fantastical worlds that go beyond the rather cut and dry Isekai story Mystery Dungeon takes place in.

TL;DR, I want more stories about mid-life adults having to rediscover a wondrous part of them lost to the brutal machine that is late stage capitalism.

@Quest Are spaces like AO3 limited here on general "become creature" isekai or mostly "Pokémon-adjacent" fic?

Because in the former, I'm aware of some pretty good transhumanist fics/isekais. But I imagine the latter might be more limited because it's tied to ideas surrounding/about an existing IP, and the infuriatingly limited pool of official material to build from there.
