Played through my first run this evening and... just like with Prodigal, this is everything I wanted Void Stranger to be. It's just so fscking refreshing by comparison.
Because while I hit the credits being mostly bewildered by what the heck was going on? I can still kind of tie it back together to series lore, have vague exposition threads to go on, had a satisfying gameplay loop that respected my time, and got an absolute banger outro song to play it all out.

... and the game actually told me what I missed to go back for, so I have an expectation of the costs of digging out the remaining lore.
Also game good. Will be playing it more to see what else I can find.
