re: vrchat, paw-focused shots
@Aether It really is good for the headspace, yeah. 💜
Thinking about
outdated robot, wearing a backpack with extra batteries and coprocessors to lower load on their systems
the extras probably more powerful than their actual hardware. To allow them to function better. More *being*
Well maintained.
Like, been watching videos of retrocomputers being expanded. Using a raspberry pi to expand an amiga, or an apple 2.
The expansion alone being more powerful in many ways than the original.
Perhaps some robot that has reached the end of possible expansion, architecture abandoned for others, memory and software tha makes them themselves not easily portable. Formats dying.
But still finding ways to *be*
My own fursoña is kinda close to that. But not quite, but it seems like a good concept to explore with another character.

@qdot Yuuuup!
re: vrchat photo, ec
I'm really happy I managed medium performance despite all of the physbones and features on this.
Still more to do, but this finally gives me the good brain juices when I use it, which is the most important part.
someone has made a browser extension that plays the wii shop channel music whenever you go to shopping websites

hi-fi rush
@chr The part I found most impressive though, is how smooth and consistent it all is between gameplay and cutscene states all done by different studios on top of that.
Some of that is Unreal engine, but on top of that, either they had really good communication between studios on the requirements, and/or their cleanup staff did an absolutely masterful job.
hi-fi rush
@chr From what I can tell, most things are implemented as finite-length animation clips, and I'm assuming they have a state manager that synchronizes each object via callback (including load times and UI). Most cutscenes are re-entrant with simple state flags and triggers to play events in sequence.
... reason I checked is I had a save bug in Ch 8 that prevented progress, and already bug reported it (and replayed from a fresh save after, all the way to the end).
@qdot @Kyreeth Thankfully, there's a mod that fixes this for other entries in the series, and will presumably be ported to this one as well:

@qdot This made me wonder what Hamlet (Wagner James Au) was getting up to these days, and man, he's still going: https://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/
@Leviamicky Yeah, I'd assume they tried to do so here and either didn't find it or discovered that fiber doesn't scan like power lines do?
It's also probably not the work crew's fault, nor most of Comcast's. Specs and city plans can be inaccurate, underground lines can drift over time, and it's hard to get an accurate reading below concrete without, well, digging. I'm assuming they used their best judgment on this and only knew it was a problem after they struck the line.
Comcast probably had to haggle with the city to run a single line. Typically there's redundancy in these systems, so the fact there wasn't here is... a thing.
At 9PM yesterday, we lost home internet along with much of the greater Seattle area. Still out (I'm tethering over wireless). We figured it was probably a fiber cut, but not a whole lot of information was circulating about it.
Today we learned: at least three cities were disrupted by a single box in the middle of Renton:

Who would win: Comcast service for all of Seattle vs one shiny diggie boy.
