@maddy IMO, I thought Celeste 64 had much more to say about what a 2 would be like than Celeste did. Y'all came together to build something small scale again that did what you wanted it to, with all its rough edges and warts on the dev side that we undoubtedly don't see as players, and gave something familiar but not entirely the same that spoke its own language. And I think y'all had fun with it?
@maddy Resisting the urge to post solutions because (1) there will probably be plenty of reply folks proposing them and (2) you've undoubtedly thought about this much, much, much, much more than I have. Instead: sympathy on this set of problems and tradeoffs from a dev in other spaces.
What I will say: I challenge the fundamental notion of what makes the game work in a theoretical sequel. Folks that want their workflows to work or mod will play... Celeste. What do you want to do with a 2.
Every town should have a cable depot where everyone brings the cables they aren't using and they sort, test, and store them, and when you need some random cable you simply drop by the cable depot to pick it up. And if they don't have it they'll request it from the next town over, like inter library loans.
Updated my Yes Porn Allowed List removing Gotm (Defunct), Gumroad (Banned Porn), and striking out Commiss.io (Creator is MIA as site bitrots). Finally got around to adding Dropp.
Here we have a sleepy @Yarideki getting some rest with a plush Noma, but is that plush Noma smaller than last time, or is it a particularilly big taur? I'll leave that up to your interpretation!

To repeat myself but more helpfully from a couple days ago: if a project on a public SCM well like Github or Codeberg disappears, you can check if the Software Heritage archive grabbed it.
This is such a valuable tool for preservation and it's saved my spiky butt a dozen times now.

Be kind to their bandwidth. They discourage cloning straight out of their archives. Rehost if the risk to doing so is acceptable.

@Soreth [Scene: Payday 2 Jewelry Store. Half the loot is replaced with inexplicable wands, scrolls, and potions, you can only BUC check during extraction, and hard E square access is only guaranteed by a wand of fire.]
Dragon. Agender, otherkin, occasional artist and writer, infosec engineer, in about that order. Avatar by Xeirla. Singular they/them preferred.
Also on @Goldkin (meow.social) for follow requests that don't work here.
