homebrew ddr pad, build photos
... I admit to thoroughly having no idea what I'm doing when it comes to electrical circuits, so the fact this works at all is kind of a relief. @..@
homebrew ddr pad, build photos
So after using through our old hard pads and being constantly frustrated at nothing being available, we decided to build our own from this guide: https://youtu.be/y6wGYLE0YI4
Turns out this thing is way easier than expected once we got the materials assembled. Each sensor converts physical force into electrical resistance, and each analog channel reads that in and converts it to button presses at a given threshold.
And it works! Next is finish wiring and close it up.
PMD DX, late game dungeon
Update: I finished my run of this successfully, and in celebration, named my Dodrio main "The Dekis" after @Vyzie
PMD DX, late game dungeon
Item luck has been okay so far. I've still got a fair number of escapes and reviver seeds left, and a single ban seed waiting for an enemy Pokémon to try Earth Power (a high damage, room hitting move) on my team.
Which is to say, absent completely awful luck or completely spacing on how to play the game, this should be completable... maybe.
PMD DX, late game dungeon
I have a slow moving save file on Purity Forest (the most "true roguelike" dungeon of the game) that I'm whittling on, which is now at floor 50 of 99.
And, oof, I had forgotten what it's like to have to take a few turns every minute or two in one of these games because strategy matters.
My current main is Dodrio, which is an incredibly oddball choice, but between Quick Attack, Fury Attack, Giga Impact, and Hyper Beam, they at least don't feel too underpowered.
halo infinite minor spoilers, re, subtitling and sound design
Watching @Veladynee play through Halo Infinite with subtitles on and being very amused at the extremely descriptive text for every sound sample in the game. From such wonders as "Inquisitive Beeping" and "Alert Confident Chirp" to "Angry Electrocuted Scream" and "Excited Confident Roar".
And realizing I have a mighty need. I want this in most games, both for accessibility and because it's amazing. Like, put this on Rathalos in one of the Monster Hunter games, please.
The solitary Anna's hummingbird that ineffectually sentries our feeders is there today, despite it icing over and snowing. The moment I brought out a warm feeder, they hopped on it and chugged as fast as their tiny beak could, before zooming off and returning 5 minutes later.
Christmas Eve, and therefore time for the traditional listening of A Singular Christmas

When we finally found our way to the stars, we discovered many planets that had once been inhabited by long-gone alien civilisations.
Some left memorials and statues commemorating their great deeds and glorious histories.
Some left libraries. Those, we learned from, and mourned.

Me, a unixy old person: "... and before end to end encryption was standardized, that meant that something called replay attacks were possible. To mitigate this, kerberos authentication was invented, which..."
A young unixy person: "can you pet it though."
"what"
"Kerberos was named for the three headed dog that guards the gates of hell, right?"
"... yes?"
"Can I pet the dog, is my question."
"..."
"..."
"Ok, no, but file that bug immediately."
another dreamthing, dragons, tf-adjacent
Continuing the tradition of my weekly sleeping-in-on-Saturdays giving really cool dreams:
This one was heroic coming-of-age story. Most of the details were pulled from other identifiable sources, but the main protag is cool enough to write out.
They're a gender-ambiguous (female-leaning) person who discovered they could shapeshift by accidentally becoming their own (adorably small, anthro orca-dragon) OC. They quickly identified they could become anything else they wanted within the same approximate mass range, with a catch: they need to actively focus on it.
Their personality is distinct enough that I need to noodle on it a bit more to describe them well. The villain also had vague ideas on how they work and may point to other-than-human origins.
While the dream had them doing hero things, they're more into chilling out to chiptunes, signalwave/vaporwave, and playing variations on 80s and 90s videogames with friends.
They also chose a name for themselves, but it has a conflict with someone I know, so I'll need to find a good alternative for them. Still, very neat little fictionthing.
(Also meant to post this earlier, but lots of random other things happened in the meantime.)
