Me: “Wow, a drawing with 9 characters really pushed me to the limits of my current ability.”

A comment I received: “9 characters was not a problem for Da Vinci.” (with a link to Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper”)

… Buddy. Leonardo was an experienced painter, far more experienced than I’ll ever be—and it still took him THREE YEARS to paint that thing.

@erkhyan to be fair it feels like people just took a really long time to paint shit back then. I feel like now somebody could whip that out in a month

@InTheLandOfTheRisingSun Leonardo Da Vinci was a polymath who studied for years in one of Europe’s most prestigious workshops, under one of Europe’s most prestigious masters. He had assistants working for him for most of his career.

He might not have had the same tools and technology we currently do, but comparing anyone (especially self-taught artists) to him is still unfair.
