@karma If something you are working on has escalated five levels up the management chain, that is because four levels of management also couldn’t figure it out. It’s not just you, and you feel in over your head because you are facing something genuinely difficult; breathe deep, have faith in yourself, enjoy the chance to meet your boss’s boss’s boss’s boss’s boss and work through a puzzle together.
I’m planning an essay this weekend on my own system to handle All The Things at work, meanwhile
possibly-lethal levels of cuteness
This story is giving me SO MUCH AWWW. Toronto rolled out new "raccoon-resistant" compost bins that the raccoons very quickly figured out how to open; the reporter for this story set up a camera on her own new bin and recorded them getting better and better at opening them.

I’m at work drinking coffee to counteract the hangover from last night’s cannabis use, which was in part to get over the frazzled-ness that came in part from excess coffee use. NOTHING CAN POSSIBLY GO WRONG WITH THIS PLAN
In practice, coffee reliably induces productivity for me and I haven’t found effective alternatives - adequate quantities of caffeinated tea upset my stomach - so maybe this is the best balance I can manage. It’s productive, I’m just noting the symptom circle.

the weird furry stuff part of introductions
If I was less shy, this feed would probably contain more dragons and dragon porn, tentacles, latex, inflatables, etc. I should probably just post all that stuff more and rely on content warnings to let people self-sort if they don’t want to deal with it. I mean, not everybody’s here for the software.
I don’t think I’ve ever done an #introductions post, so:
Hi! I’m Kistaro Windrider. I’m
* nonbinary
* a software engineer
* too frazzled for side projects
* near Seattle
* otherkin (dragon) with a complicated cosmology
* vaguely neopagan, occasional Tarot reader
* pretty harsh about self-censorship, which is why there isn’t a lot more weird furry stuff on this feed
@Gargron If usernames of people who place reports go through a one way hash, Mastodon admin software could grow a feature where a report could be flagged as “hostile/frivolous” (which is different from “understandable but wrong”) and too many would suggest a prompt to disregard all reports from the same hash for a day/week/month, allowing some level of report management without immediately unmasking reporting users. Username space is small enough to brute force though
my favorite demon is probably Adrammelech, the "supervisor of Satan's wardrobe" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrammelech

When we create a culture where it's okay to gang up on and harass people, the ones who suffer most are never the ones who "deserve it", because those people inevitably have backup/clout/resources. The people who suffer most will be vulnerable and marginalized people who are wrongly accused of misbehavior and don't have a fanbase or clique to back them up. Mob behavior is *easy to exploit*, and we should be very careful about normalizing it.
Chameleonic dragon. Otherkin. Some kind of eclectic neo-Pagan. Sie/hir or they/them. Software engineer. Seattle-esque, WA. Expect software takes, complaints about the tech industry, board games, video games, an inexplicably obsession with paper notebooks despite my handwriting, and Weird Furry Stuff.
