Here’s a weird art thing, drawing thru McBride paintings; he usually gives busy backgrounds with lots of hues, desaturated and lighter to break out a focus area. But most paintings in “Armies of Ivan the Terrible” his backgrounds are really simple and desaturated.

I think either the deadline was really brutal OR this is how he breaks out having really detailed, really saturated Russian costumes clearly!
