With my next birthday coming soon I was thinking about stuff with aging;

* it’s weird how many things started in my life which are now almost unquestionable cultural things; Star Wars, TMNT, Transformers, Pokemon, Indiana Jones, the Jurassic Franchise. It makes me wonder what I lived through recently which will someday also seem like a trope that’s always been around.

* in some ways the 70s (and into early 80s) and 90s were golden ages. Suddenly there was all this fantastic stuff - Star Wars, D&D, Star Trek as movies, wargames miniatures, the Dark Crystal, muppets, etc etc. Or how awesome cartoons, MtG, White Wolf, and all those attempts to explore CGI were all in a world with no Cold War. AND YET, it looked crummy, definitely not like a golden age.

Um... One fox's opinion... Having lived through all those decades, the culture was so superficial, MST3K and Channel Awesome-types are still making bank ridiculing on it to this day. The 70s and 80s were certainly Cold War with the ongoing fear of nuke strikes. And the way trans people were treated back then... I'm very happy here and now ;)
Glad you like it though!

@Aradia yeah but there was this brief little space of things before the Reagan Era really took off, like a tiny breather, if that makes sense?

@Leucrotta
I don't remember any of that, sorry.
On retrospect though. 70s educational films for kids were a lot more inclusive than in the next two decades.
