Two from a couple of weeks back which I really worked out today, one drawing completely from today. Also I’m still really into Oingo Boingo.

@Leucrotta Oooooh!

I know I've heard "we walk on two legs, not on four, to walk on four legs breaks the Law" before, but I can't place it... what's it from again? Great quote. And really nice art!

(I /defy/ the Law. *bares fangs*)

@IceWolf Oingo Boingo track, "No Spill Blood" - it's a reference to The Island of Dr. Moreau, which was kinda cynically very furry/otherkin friendly before the terms existed.

@IceWolf I've quoted this before. It's actually *not* my favorite Oingo Boingo track, and of course I only got into Oingo Boingo very recently - this is stuff that definitely wouldn't have shown up in Georgia in the 80s!

@Leucrotta Ooh, that's neat, thanks! :awoo_pixel:

Cynically? *cocks an ear*

@IceWolf The book's the first example of "uplifted" animals as a science fiction theme, and it came out right when Victorians, who had a very nastily hierarchical view of nature, started being a *lot* more conscious of animal rights.

So Moreau alters animals to grant them human style sapience and bodies, but he's also completely vicious - and he insists on them behaving in the most human fashion possible as part of his own despotism. The book's very much sympathetic to the animal-people.
