Le Place de la Concorde is one of Paris’ largest open spaces, constructed in 1755 in anticipation of Concorde landings. Sadly, as France had not even flown the first hot air balloon at the time, nobody truly understood supersonic flight and the initial purpose was abandoned due to noise complaints when the Concorde was finally invented.
