It’s this recursive deal where every trumped up right wing assmash has to have A BIG FLAG to let you know how AMERICAN!!!1! they are, thus associating the flag with the most classist racist politics out there and ensuring anyone left of Hermann Göring dislikes the thing, which means right wingers can go YOU DON’T LIKE OUR FLAAAAG.
Maybe it’s a conspiracy by flag manufacturers to sell bigger and bigger flags, until the average F150 has one the size of car dealerships’, idk…
@jacel There's actually a fair amount of people here who like the Cascadia flag and I've seen an okay number of cars with state flag stickers (Colorado especially, but maybe that's some sort of "I like this place 'cause I ski there" thing). I still would never fly my home state's flag, since it incorporates a CSA flag.
@Leucrotta It's a useful identifier but only really from the outside. I mean, does everyone in the US really need a constant reminder of what country they're in?
... actually that might be it I guess. Reminders that you're in a /country/ of which your state is only a small part?
I dunno!
