@LexYeen yes and no. The office phone would be a great way to alert me since I don’t know who’s calling and literally have to field it while on shift BUT I’m frequently away from it while working in the warehouse.
Rationally letting him leave a message or calling him back in a bit is solid boundaries, but emotionally this presses my buttons about phone calls and about adults expecting me to commit 200% to this thing that’s vital to them and which I don’t really want to do.
@LexYeen you know the standard scenario this feels like; without any ill will on either side, a boss interested in their job and well rewarded for it, assumes similar interest and commitment from employees who are just there because it’s a job.
@LexYeen (so yeah like a lot of any work, childhood buttons being stepped on.) my boss is pretty much constantly available but there’s a difference between the head of a branch office now WFH, and an hourly administrative assistant, so that makes me resentful. If that makes sense?
