my comeback to the "no kink at Pride" discourse is again that I think EVERYWHERE should have at least one (hopefully several) nothing BUT kink festival like Folsom, where you can hang out in a thong and a pup mask, watching bears get caned right next to the garlic fries stand.
@frostwolf hey you're in the Bay Area these days aren't you? I think you mentioned using BART. https://www.folsomstreet.org/ is the festival I'm talking about on 09/25, it's awesome.
@Leucrotta There actually IS one?? Yeah, we just moved to the Bay Area last year, so!
Do they have a furry contingent? I uh, kinda doubt any humans there would like the kinks we're into (mostly vore), although hopefully they wouldn't be too squicked out by us.
(We still need to check out the local furry community in general, too.)
@frostwolf Yes and no. Folsom is a holdover of pre-tech-boom Gay (specifically!) culture, it winds up being a good selection of BDSM you can do in meatspace (so lots of vendors with gear, a stand where you can get flogged in public etc).
That said there isn't an event in the Bay Area where people will *not* show up in fursuits.
The actual furry convention locally is Further Confusion, in early January. https://twitter.com/furcon
@frostwolf You actually didn't; the con had a good enough relationship with the venue that when it looked like Covid was making the con look less and less feasible, they were able to cancel entirely, which is definitely *not* the usual way these things work.
@Leucrotta Oh, huh. That's good.
It's a weird thought that venues force cons to keep going. Money, I guess.
@Leucrotta Kink festivals sound really fun!
