Asking for a reality check, please.
My workplace recently hired a property manager who is supposed to be taking over most duties. Earlier I’d compiled a list of tenants, their lease information and contact information. As part of sending nastygrams about the laundry room at one property, the new property manager requested a list of tenants there; then requested an listing for all properties. So I provided that information, and that’s what I got harangued about.
Was that actually my mistake?
@Leucrotta It's been a long day, but I think the story goes like:
Coworker A (for asshole) has it out for you and routinely nitpicks at you.
New Property Manager asks you for data, which you provide.
Coworker A blows a fuse about the provision of the data to the Property Manager.
If I have that correct, sounds like Coworker A is an information gatekeeper. You provided information to someone without forcing them to beg for it, setting precedent that information can be freely obtained.
In short, you've removed a stone from the "I'm too important to fire" wall Coworker A has built in their head.
@Leucrotta Unless you were directly told by your boss "Do not give this information to the property manager", you did not make a mistake in giving information to the new properly manager.
@Leucrotta Of COURSE it wasn't! They asked for X, you gave them X, /that's on them./
