oh gah, apparently not only do I associate "Star of the County Down" with my friend because she sings it relatively frequently but also I associate "Swallowtail Jig" with "IRISH LANGUAGE LAB."

"And anither thing! I don't like those things ye're saying aboot me mither! Me mither's a decent Irishwoman even if she likes to carve anatomically accurate figures out o' the potatoes!"

... I always assumed "anatomically accurate figures" meant a sheela-na-gig.

@Leucrotta I dunno what a sheela-na-gig is, but,

perfectly proportioned animal carvings :3

@topaz It's basically an Iron Age spread beaver shot, a stylized carving of a lady with fingers spreading her labia. Archaeologists dig them up relatively often, but we don't exactly know what sheela was supposed to be - is she a goddess? Is she THE goddess? Is she merely a good luck charm for childbirth or something?
