So check me on this,
the childhood thing where you’re assumed to be smart enough that something’s intuitive therefore there’s NO instruction, OR something’s poorly explained because it’s assumed you’ll remember these small details, SO you then get it wrong and that’s interpreted as you’re stupid, innately inept, or just willfully wrong;
Is that an ADHD experience?
@Leucrotta thaqt is the *quintessential* ADHD experience
@amaranth so then… if a parent tries to teach you stuff after school, and you just can’t get it so they yell at you, call you stupid or insist that you repeat back what they just said verbatim, that’s probably ADHD more than *just* they aren’t a good teacher and it’s not stuff you find compelling?
@amaranth fair, just for years I didn’t have ADHD as an additional context to why I just didn’t get it and hated it.
@Leucrotta yeah, it's likely that you have ADHD
but I hope you know that the actual cause is not you, ADHD or not. that's a fucked up thing to do to any kid for any reason.
@Leucrotta I mean
if they yell at you and call you stupid because they assume malice when your brain doesn't work the way they've dreamt up, then what it is is ableist abuse
