rice cooker stuff

hhh.

*borfs at @spottyfox @Leucrotta* (and anyone else who might have an opinion)

so it turns out that the rice cooker we were looking at has no power switch, it requires being unplugged every single time; that. will not work for us

So we're looking at a digital one instead, it's nominally $30.

Except Target doesn't sell it (except "refurbished" that reviews say has dents and/or food residue...) so we're looking at Amazon.

It's also $30.
Except shipping jacks that up to $40.

Think $40 is too steep?

@spottyfox @Leucrotta ...Huh. Walmart might have this exact model! We should go there instead.

rice cooker stuff

@spottyfox @Leucrotta We are heading to Walmart now! :3

...We picked a bad time; night has fallen, and it wimdy. But I don't feel like waiting.

rice cooker stuff

@spottyfox @Leucrotta I THINK they sell it here, and I think it's in stock. Maybe. Their website is frustratingly obtuse.

re: rice cooker stuff

@Ylfingr @spottyfox I think $40 justifies a good enough rice cooker, assuming you're gonna use it again and again. But obviously it's kinda a moot point right now.

re: rice cooker stuff

@Leucrotta @spottyfox :blobcatheart:

We have found it at Walmart!

... After finding someone to deal with the giant pallet of boxes in the way. (???)

We didn't see the price sticker because they handed us the box, guess we'll find out at checkout if they're playing pricing games, but it SHOULD be $30.

re: rice cooker stuff

@Ylfingr @Leucrotta @spottyfox We are HOME.

*collapses*

We have acquired the rice cooker, and some food! They did not play games with pricing, it turns out.

re: rice cooker stuff

@Ylfingr @Leucrotta @spottyfox Also fuck Walmart. I hope we never have to go back there again.

re: rice cooker stuff, Walmart

@Ylfingr @Leucrotta @spottyfox (they didn't pull anything nasty on us, the store just felt... so hostile.)

(Despite the asset protection guy seeing that we had a cane and going "want one of the electric carts?". Totally different from Target's armed thugs going around telling people they can't use them every chance they get. Walmart has the exact same thugs, by the way, same company and everything. The asset protection guy wasn't one of them, and didn't look terribly threatening.)

re: rice cooker stuff

@Ylfingr @Leucrotta @spottyfox We were planning on making something with rice when we got home.

But uh... yeah uh... I think we're just gonna have one of the frozen pot pies we came home with. Smol, but 600 calories.

Might make some rice too just to play with it, but.
