I always thought “head honcho” came from a Spanish loanword, and it’s not; Japanese actually “han cho,” squad leader, apparently overheard during WWII to refer to lieutenants.

@Leucrotta Oh, gosh, somehow this took me back decades to when I learned "sayonara" was Japanese and not Spanish, either.
