Here’s where we were ultimately headed Saturday, the ice caves. A waterfall erodes snow caught in this big sheet caught in the mountains’ shadow and the combined water runs out through a floodplain covered at the depths of winter. Erosion in the cave walls essentially reflects the bigger caves!

@arakin It was! And what you can't see; air coming off the snowfield alternated with hot wind blowing through the valley, without the trees to block it. So if you weren't in the mouth of an actual ice cave it was like stepping in front of or in back of an A/C going full blast, almost at random.
