it's real hard to be sincere in requiring yourself to love your enemy.
a certain amount of ACCEPTING your enemy, that you don't need to love the fucker just peaceably coexist with him and vice versa, b/c neither of you know the whole story, can last a lot longer. Frankly I think that's the ideal.

@Leucrotta 100% agree, with a caveat:
Imo, love as an obligation is inherently insincere.
I see love as a choice, & a product of that choice. Having no choice undermines the foundation & leaves you with a fragile, easily shaken shell.
REQUIRING yourself to love someone/thing will invariably chafe, like how an authority you oppose ordering you to do something you like completely deflates the excitement.
I want to *want* to love my enemies, 'cause if I *have* to, I just won't.
