@Leucrotta Okay, it looks like we'll want an 8x8 baking dish, it's half a 9x13 and will likely fit in our toaster ov...
hang on. 8×√2 is 11 inches (diagonal). The toaster oven was advertised as "fits a 9-inch pizza" so 9" round things should work, but 11" things might not. Havta break out the tape measure once we get home!
Anyway, recipe wise, I kind of want to try just dumping in pasta and a can of cream of mushroom soup and see how it comes out! APPARENTLY you can use uncooked pasta by soaking it first, it'll absorb the water but it doesn't need the actual cooking part since that'll happen in the oven. =^.^=
@frost This gets into stuff I don't know about tbh. Hope it works out!
@Leucrotta Thanks! =^.^=
If our other baking mishaps are any indication, it probably won't... then again, I bet a casserole is way less fussy than a cake or a pie. It'll still cook fine if it's 25 degrees off or takes 10 minutes too long in the oven.
@Leucrotta We have obtained an 8x8 pan (metal, since it was impossible to find 8x8 ceramic/stoneware...), and are on the way home with tuna noodle casserole makings!
@Leucrotta Target actually HAS an 8x8... in a set with a 5x5, costing $20. Didn't want to spend quite that much. And it was actually slightly larger than 8x8, I don't have precise measurements to know if it'd fit.
@Leucrotta Haah, heh!
That sounds like a good idea. I'm also tempted to try tuna noodle casserole, it looks fairly simple, but it looks like the pasta would need to be cooked first. And anything that uses a can of cream-of soup would probably have awkward ratios with toaster oven downscaling. So a toaster oven focused recipe sounds like the way to go!
