OK, it was more just that the last save was right before Deceiver died, so we're pretty much back to where we were, now as Magha Amita.
The split of crowns between my niece and I has some advantages, but can be very, very worrying.
The two most angry Muslim vassals went over to her side, but she is only 3 years old and only took a small army that is far smaller than what the two vassals can amass.
I played through Amita's entire reign and it was a glorious yet dark reign. There was torture, a family member went off and made a cadet house. I missed a chance to reform the religion, because I didn't think I would have enough piety, but I could have gained it just fine.
We won another feud, which led to gaining the crown of Gurma once Amita died. And yet, kin was slain.
Now starts the reign of Deceiver II, who has a huge problem: she's not very smart, and this is passing on to her kids.
Yet, the reigns of Deceiver I and Amita have led to a pretty stable transfer of power, despite Deceiver II literally getting caught first doing adultery, and then trying to elope.
But its interesting because at this point the dynasty as a whole is the biggest in the area, and most of my rivals are now within it, which is definitely tricky.
vague description of torture
So when I started as Amita, she was trying to go down the path to get the Torturer trait. I had been generally just swapping them to a lifestyle I wanted, but I saw the advantage of having dread, so I kept her on that path.
This led to an event where she was like "ah, I want to not just be a torturer, but an _artist_ of torture". Of the options, I chose the one where she tortured someone to break their will completely and then rewriting it.
vague description of cultural genocide
I also tried to step up efforts to convert counties to my desired culture and religion. Religion is super tough compared to culture, but I am pretty sure that at some point they just started killing my councilors I sent.
That tied with other issues led to me having to put down multiple peasant rebellions as Amita.
One even started as Deceiver II, but I chose to pay that one off since there was another war I was trying to prosecute.
Anyway, it's interesting how many knock-on effects came from me not taking over an early war as Amita. My niece Deye, who took the crown of Ghana had very little troops, and like I said, my intention was to support her with my own.
She got into a war pretty soon after Amita took over, and I brought in my troops, and chained them to her because I didn't want to prosecute it myself.
She ran us all the way over to the war target, and I noticed that the enemy army was sieging her capital.
I got worried, but decided to just let things run, and this was a terrible mistake. Deye was eventually captured, leading to a quick end of the war, and she was also forced to convert to Sufri Islam.
I naively hoped that she would convert back to Bidaism if I told her to, but she refused, saying she would make her own house! And that's exactly what she did eventually despite us becoming friends again because we both tried to ruin someone else's coronation.
It's also worth noting that person whose coronation we ruined _definitely_ took it personally without becoming an open rival, eventually just straight out kidnapping my son and stripping his wife of her title to break my alliance with them.
We never went to war, because I had other things to handle, though.
Either way, this remains the most narrative game of this I've ever played, and I'm loving it. I think at some point I may just need to give up and convert to Sufri, but I really don't wanna
There also does seem to be some... bugs... For example, sometimes other people's coronations would suddenly switch to using first person like "I am now Magha".
There were some weird wordings and moments where like I made friends at a party, and then later at the same party came up to me and was like "remember when we became friends? wasn't that great?"
I mean I figure they might be drunk or something...
But most of all for some reason when friends would suddenly turn on me, the first message implied they were turning on me, but the second implied I turned on them, which I _never_ sought out to do because as the player I am the House, and I want House unity.
Also I didn't pick a motto, so it gave me one at random and it took me to now to realize how dogshit it is: Goodness over Wisdom
Oh yeah, Amita entered the feud with her husbands house, got in a winning position, but was not in a place to end the feud. Deceiver II actually pleaded we end the feud but we would have lost in that case, so I refused.
Figuring I needed to do something to end the feud, I began plotting the murder of the head of the family. My odds were not great, so I waited a very long time to build up advantage.
And then, guess what? He just fucking died on his own before I got the chance to kill him.
while I'm talking about bullshit
earlier today I was thinking about president's initials and how none of them are pronounceable
but I wasn't sure about Carter and Ford's middle names
I guessed "James Earl Carter", but figured I was thinking of "James Earl Ray" and "James Earl Jones"... but his middle name is indeed "Earl"
why the fuck are there so many "James Earl"s in particular?
this also means he's the only really pronounceable one in the sense he has a vowel in a pronounceable position and no normally unpronounceable clusters of consonants
Obama is the next closest with BHO, but I don't think that really counts
@chimerror you gotta admit "James Earl Carter" is the most southern name of the lot. Like if we didn't know better it'd sound like a name a Brit came up with to sound American.
