My politics may have taken a big step left in the last 12 hours. I still feel like capitalism doesn’t have to be this completely harmful but right now what we have is really deleterious and it needs revision.
@Eriadam I’ve done the anarchist/communist thing when my politics were more conservative (I was part of a student Co-op). It’s a great solution but I want redundancy, transparency, as checks.
I don’t feel I’m very informed about economics and resource distribution, but what I see now is cruel and impractical.
@Leucrotta I quite agree. Part of why I'm studying economics, is so that I can understand it all better, and maybe realize what can be done to improve it all.
I have a friend in Denmark, who explained how their economy work, and it sounds appealing. Mixed economy - very high taxes, very good quality of welfare, and generally happy populace. So I feel like that's a good example of a system that is worth taking notes from
@Leucrotta I quite agree - I am no socialist or communist myself ( which I hope wont bring me hate here, since so many people are ones over here ), since I do recognize that free market brings the fastest economical progress. There should be adjustments done, particularly to wealth distribution. Seems like Japan has least problems with capitalism wealth distribution thanks to its double sides work culture ( boss cares for workers, workers care for the boss ). /random ramble over
