So I was thinking; most wildcats are adept jumpers and climbers where canids are more cursorial. I bet this plays out in cat territory size not really changing as much in more montane/forested areas where solitary canine territory size can vary more wildly, and possibly plays into canines being more social (more individuals can hold a larger territory and that increases chance of successful dispersion or extrogeny).
