uspol/monomyth rant

I again really hate this whole deal where all servicepeople are “heroes.” It’s dehumanizing. My friends are heroes because they fought/are still fighting depression, PTSD, gender dysphoria, that’d be true no matter what difficult job they did. My great uncle came out of one of the nastiest parts of the war and remained an okay human being.

It’s this generic level, the uniform made them as only as heroic as Dubya, William Calley or an asshole ex boss, before we get into “why?”
