RPG stories

One of my best gaming stories isn’t actually mine.

When I started college I was trying to be a good boy and I went to services every Friday. This meant I missed D&D games or came late during fall semester, before sunset came early enough that I could go to shul *and* play D&D. Ironically being late thanks to being religious meant I wound up playing clerics a lot, since players who showed up earlier tended to grab the “more exciting” roles.

One of the nights that I couldn’t make it, my fellow dweebs told me about later.

A very drunk (and apparently Australian given accent) student stumbled into the conversational French lunchroom where the game club met. He was apparently quite ready to try D&D and repeatedly insisted, “I want to play the gorgon.” My friends stepped him through chargen. Together, they made a fighter named The Gorgon. Then the new player passed out, beautific smile on his face, for the rest of the game.

(No playing buckaroo or drawing dicks on his face. This is the same game group where someone stuck sporks in the low ceiling because it seemed like a good idea, then took all of them down to be polite before leaving. Very wholesome considering how effed up emotionally we all were.)
