If anyone feels like an uplifting read right now:
The resurgence of moko kauae
"For New Zealand Māori women, the moko kauae, or traditional female chin tattoo, is considered a physical manifestation of their true identity. It is believed every Māori woman wears a moko on the inside, close to their heart; when they are ready, the tattoo artist simply brings it out to the surface."
@crimebird I found it in this weird funky gallery in Wellington, NZ called Eyeball Kicks. Its an oil painting by an artist named Rieko Woodford-Robinson. Here's a link to her online gallery that has a few other cool birbs http://www.riekowoodfordrobinson.com/paintings/?g=Deep%20in%20the%20Woods%202014
You might like this artist from the same gallery as well!
@crimebird All hail the great Birb :penguin:
@typhlosion Well cheers!
But I'm checking this place out because of my friends at Idle Thumbs and y'know actually this place already seems wayyy cooler than he thinks it is
Some things about me:
I've been with my boyfriend for about 5+ years now and we're finally moved in with flatmates again after living with family on and off after moving into a new city. I like tech but I'm waaaaay more into games/society/left-wing spaces.
Oh and I'm from New Zealand, I was raised as a Pakeha but recently found out that my family never really bothered to inform me I was also part Maori (I found out from a cousin) so now I'm trying to discover that side of myself too.
