It's quarter to six, and I'm going to be late to work. That has lost all meaning, beyond my pay being calculated by an hourly wage, but if I stay late long enough to make up for missed time I'll not lose any income. I should, regardless, get up and go.
'Moment of Inertia' has a specific torque-related physics meaning, but for right now, it describes my unwillingness to start another week. To stay in this liminal interstice between minutes.
This unit has a bad motivator.
re: another workday
@porsupah Things are very odd these days, which is to say, normal. I feel the the universe has attempted to compensate for reality being profoundly askew by snapping my back into my first 'professional' work environment: teaching myself something, handling odd requests as they arise, keeping my head down and watching for the hatchet that's already taken half my coworkers. XD
We keep trying to have a second shift, it keeps not happening. But our customers uniformly have two or three shifts - or did, before all... this... so we try to align with the early one.
re: another workday
@Momentrabbit They're cutting back when there's apparently no let-up in demand? Of course. *nods*
Urgh, that's the perfect topping to this delightful sandwich. Gods know, if necessary, I can sometimes wake up as early at 7am, but 8am's more likely to result in a responsive bunny.
re: another workday
@porsupah Oh, the demand is up and down. And equipment in use needs maintenance - our primary doombeam blew a solenoid this morning, which I was able to replace with a space. We're out of spares, now. 9.9 Running close to the edge, the only way to be! Lean and stupid! XD
another workday
@Momentrabbit **hug** It's not exactly an optimal situation, ne? >sigh<
(That's a very early start! Is it a shift-based place, or is that just The Way We Do Things Here?)
