#SAYER doesn't really do it for me for the following reasons:
-unsubtle voice effects (I don't want to be told when to be scared)
-SAYER only has one "mood"
-it's just Portal with a bit more horror and worse dialogue
-story moving too slowly while the worldbuilding and characters are not really making up for it
It's not bad but it doesn't live up to what I've heard before and the setting is kinda just Wolf 359 Lite.

I guess it's just not my style. :/
I'll listen to a few more episodes though but I'm also listening to The Bright Sessions annnd that has better story and characters while SAYER is just not different enough to make me want to jump into it.
Maybe I'll return to it after TBS? I've taken breaks from other podcasts too, even ones I found really entertaining, like The Thrilling Adventure Hour.
(I still need to finish that too >.>)

@grainloom I feel Sayer didn't quite find its groove until season 3, and season 4 retroactively makes many fragments of season 1, 2 and 3 far more cohesive by recontextualizing them. That said, it's just not going to be everybody's cup of tea.

@Momentrabbit there are that many season? 0:
holy heck

I guess I could listen to the first seasons in the background until I get the good stuff????

podcast opinions

@grainloom That'd work out pretty well, I think. It's sort of a shame that there are so many fragments alluded to in later eps, because otherwise I could just say "Things really start at episode X".

On reflection... you *could* start at episode 45 and just try the current season. It does explain itself, presuming you trust Sayer to be a Reliable Narrator, and there'd be a certain narrative resonance to going in tabula rasa. n.n

@grainloom With the warning of course that the current season contains spoilers to eps you haven't heard, of course.
