we have been renovating our kitchen, and it is nearly done. i have never had, or lived in proximity to, a room that says "Yes, Adults Live Here" with quite such quiet, understated authority before. i like it, but it outclasses the rest of The Mess - it belongs in a better-kept home. #.#

meanwhile our basement is nearly solidpacked with kipple and my office is cluttered to immobolity.

@Momentrabbit In the Grand Tradition, I'll be the first experimentee, of course. I need a scan of my right hand and arm to work from: can't build a better mousetrap until you've scanned a better mouse.

Having spent a few hours delving through abandoned Githubs and Google code archives, I'm now all set to do structured light 3d scanning: I just need *room to work in*, where I can set up the projector, screen, and webcam. A bit of configuring, and I should have a few hundred-thousand voxels of pointcloud to play with.

And then, of course, I'll need... volunteers. Muahaha.
