@pandora_parrot I have the same kinda thing going on, where I was supporting a large household of folks who were disabled in one way or another.
Until I fell down.
Learned who my real friends were.
But. It's not just Rent when you're paying Rent. Yes, you build equity and they do not, but you also front the Risk by paying into it when they can't.
The issue is how risk-adverse a capitalistic system becomes when it becomes a Power Dynamic. Just like a communistic system isn't inherently evil doesn't mean you shouldn't be compensated for your effort.
And it Is effort. Don't forget that. A better question to ask yourself is: Am I being ethical with my Capital?
