@Motodrachen I am very excited! Long term I hope to get trained on the CNC, because I have some extremely dumb ideas rattling around the ol' brain pan
@sashakovich CNC is easier than you think, it's getting a feel for tool speeds, depths of cut, and feed speeds you can get away with.
Also, Three Flute Endmills are your Friends. Stubby endmills are your Friends. If material can be removed with a Drill, use a Drill. If some chain drilling and corner drilling will save time, and allow for square inside corners, do so.
Also, look up what you can do with masking tape and Superglue, for fixturing.
@Motodrachen In case the machinist who will be tutoring me doesn't have the answers, I'll be sure that you're on my list of resources to check in with. 
@Motodrachen Sounds like reminding myself occaisionally that there's no need to be in a hurry will save my a lot of time down the road.
I think this project has no square corners, though now I feel the need to read over the plans again. XD
