well, now. apparently a metastudy of 70 studies over almost 40 years has concluded that the efficiacy of CBT as a psychological treatment has halved over time

which raises the question - what if it never worked at all? for a long time it's been understood that CBT is of similar efficacy to other talking therapies - what if the constant, the bond with the therapist, is the only effective component here?
