re: Car troubles.

@devin @Motodrachen

I know Motodrachen has seen my previous car troubles, I really appreciate the input but bluntly, getting this car properly fixed up enough to continue running is about twice what I bought the car for in the first place like... 4 years ago now?

I've been wanting to replace her with a car not limping along at the end of it's lifespan, it's a few weeks before I can start seriously pursuing that.

re: Car troubles.

@Motodrachen @devin tbh, if I have almost no interest in actually owning a car. I live in a small town now so I kinda need one (and before that in Tampa FL, and gods damn you NEED a car to be able to get anywhere there)

my biggest concern with a vehicle is reliability and low cost. (And ideally a hatch back because if I have to have a car I'd at least like one with the form factor I like)

re: Car troubles.

@Motodrachen @devin Like, what got me for the Celica was not the sporty shape. It was the compact size, two seats and big trunk space. All I need in a vehicle.

Hell, if you've got suggestions for replacement vehicles to look at I'd love to hear em.

@Draekos @devin@the.monsterpit.net If reliability and Low Cost are crucial, you'll want to look at cars that were previously owned by Grandmothers.

Depending on the demographics of the Nanas in Question, this can be anything from a Mercury Grand Marquis to a chrysler Town and Country.

Used small cars get beat on. Nana never exceeded the speed limit on her land yacht, and got it serviced at the dealership. Furthermore, anything with a V8 in a Car will be Younger than a comparable Truck or Van application, or a 4 banger.

For the small, easy to maintain, economical ride, a Toyota Corolla is hard to beat. Anything Honda tends to be good, but a lot of 'American' small cars of the last decade or so are Euro cars, really.

If you had the money, a mid 2010s Hyundai would do you well, they just have a Life Timer on them. They don't age well, the interior materials look great New but don't wear with any dignity.
