if I could go back in time I'd explain to my 15yo self that the reason I thought identity labels weren't important was because I'd only known of them in the context of labels forced upon me by other people and that later I'd learn that I can choose labels for myself that instill a sense of pride based on attributes I find important as opposed to the opinions of others

You can write all the philosophical dissertations you want and why communism and Marxism is good or whatever but if you can't translate to laypeople the simple fact that they are being abused by capitalism and that a better system is in fact possible they're not going to support you, in the polls or in the revolution.

Today in my occasional series of Things That You Think Are For Rich People But Don't Have To Be: having an arcade machine in your house, weird as that sounds. They're great for overstressed new parents particularly because show me the parent of a toddler who has time to play console or PC games. Arcade games usually boot instantly, you play a game for five minutes or so, you're done. At least until you get good, and you're not gonna get good anyway, you don't have time.
