i have a dnd character who is a wizard and studies thaumatology, literally "study of miracles". she's into writing spells and tearing apart how magic works. but unlike a lot of fantasy like "oh you must read the works of the elders who had a deep connection with magic" she's very much a scientist about it, doing experiments and publishing papers
when she explains what she does to people, she often gets questions like, what specific kinds of things is she trying to figure out. her go-to answer is that a huge unsolved mystery in her field is why everything in magic seems to happen in multiples of six seconds. it's this constant throughout different schools of magic, independently discovered by spellcrafters from different cultures... it seems fundamental, but why? what's special about six seconds?
of course, the dnd rules state that six seconds is the length of a combat round, but she doesn't know that

Growing up the way I did, I'm not absolutely certain weather I was Groomed or Guided towards being as genderfucked as I am.
On the one hand, having a family life where you were more or less Expected to grow up to be a Woman means the usual roadblocks aren't there.
It means however, you had to blow thru them at top gear just to be Male for your 20s, only to find your princess is in Another castle.
Had to yell out my window at a drunk girl blasting music from her car and kvetching at maximum volume last night at 2AM.
I almost went Ballistic when her response to someone opening a 2'nd story window at 2AM yelling at her to Shut Up was to scream back "You shut up!"
She started up again two hours Later, and apparently had a friend there this time who was then yelling at Her to get back in the car, which had been blaring dance music thru closed windows for two hours and was now Freed.

Every time a state makes riding motorcycles without a helmet illegal, the number of ER patients seriously injured in motorcycle accidents skyrockets. Every single time.
When you phrase it just right, it makes it sound like it's more dangerous to ride a motorcycle with a helmet than without one.
Of course, the reality is that before those laws, those patients were going to the morgue, not the ER.
Everyone wants to live on the farm commune because they're used to seeing the farming lifestyle when you're all Done for the day.
