got this trans sci-fi/fantasy prose anthology at a bookstore in Vancouver bc I had heard it was very good. I’m nearly halfway through and so far it’s... an anthology! Mostly okay stories with a few big hits and one or two total misses. My biggest issue with it is that I only JUST got to the first story with a trans masc character who’s portrayed in a remotely positive or relatable light, much less a protagonist. This is pretty fucking disheartening??

TBH a /lot/ of trans-related media collections tend to feel that way to me, and it's.... really uncomfortable? I get too nervous to bring it up a lot of the time because I don't want to take up too much space or push other people out!
